Charles J. Faulk

Owner, CJ Faulk & Associates, LLC

 

Mr. Faulk has more than 15 years of computer forensics knowledge and experience. In addition to conducting forensic examinations of various media, Mr. Faulk has assisted in case presentation for criminal court, and developed computer forensic training for law enforcement and fire personnel. This training included initial response, data preservation, and the role of forensic examinations in the investigation.

 

Mr. Faulk is a member of the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS), holds a Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE) certification, and currently serves as a Coach in the CFCE process.  Mr. Faulk is also a member of the Washington State Chapter of the High Technology Crime Investigation Association (HTCIA) and the Computer Technology Investigators Network (CTIN).

 

Mr. Faulk has 26 years in federal law enforcement, and most recently worked with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for 11 years assigned to the Portland, OR Arson and Explosives Group. In addition to conducting investigations primarily involving suspected arson and explosives activities, Mr. Faulk also served as the sole ATF Digital Investigator for the Northwest Region and frequently assisted on cases nationwide.

 

Prior to working with ATF, Mr. Faulk was a Special Agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) for 15 years where he was assigned to various offices around the world, to include deployment on aircraft carriers. Mr. Faulk became involved in computer forensics in 1994 while employed with NCIS.   

 

Mr. Faulk recently retired from federal law enforcement and founded CJ Faulk & Associates, LLC, a computer forensics consulting firm specializing in digital forensics, forensic imaging, data recovery & analysis, litigation support, expert testimony, and training.


Kevin J. Ripa
Owner of Computer Evidence Recovery, Inc,
Kevin J. Ripa, is the owner of Computer Evidence Recovery, Inc, (with  offices in Calgary and New Delhi, India), and Past President of Alberta Association of Private Investigators. He is also the Director of Computer Forensics for ASG Investigations headquartered in Detroit, MI., with 5 offices throughout the United States. Mr. Ripa, is a former member, in various capacities, of the Department of National Defense serving in both foreign and domestic postings. He is now providing superior service to various levels of government, law enforcement and Fortune 500 companies, and has assisted in sensitive investigations around the world.                                                                                                                                
Mr. Ripa is a respected and sought after individual within the investigative industry throughout North America for his expertise in Information Technology Investigations, and has been called upon to testify as an expert witness on many occasions. As well, he has been involved in numerous complex cyber-forensics investigations. Mr. Ripa is an EnCase Certified Examiner, and a Windows
Advanced Certified Forensics Examiner, and serves on the boards of two of the most respected investigative associations in the world.


 Mark Spencer

President of Arsenal Consulting
Mark Spencer is President of Arsenal Consulting where he leads engagements involving computer forensics, information security, and electronic discovery for law firms, corporations, and government agencies. Mr. Spencer has more than a decade of law-enforcement and private-sector computer forensics experience. He is also an adjunct professor at Bunker Hill Community College and an instructor at the Computer Security Institute. He has taught for clients including NASA, Lockheed Martin, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Mr. Spencer is a regular presenter on topics relating to computer forensics, serving as a guest speaker at industry events.


Todd G. Shipley
Owner Vere Software Inc. 
When he started Vere Software in 2007, Todd G. Shipley brought with him more than 25 years of experience in law enforcement: from investigating financial and computer crimes to overseeing the training of high-tech crimes investigators.

Between 2004 and 2007, Mr. Shipley was the Director of Systems Security and High Tech Crime Prevention Training—and manager of the National Criminal Justice Computer Laboratory and Training Center—for SEARCH,  The National Consortium for Justice Information and Statistics.

Prior to joining SEARCH, Mr. Shipley served for 25 years with the Reno (Nevada) Police Department. As a Senior Detective Sergeant managing the agency's Financial and Computer Crimes Unit, he investigated serious financial offenses; developed cyber and technology crime investigative policy; and served as a liaison to other law enforcement, intelligence, and government agencies and industry bodies. During this time, he formed Nevada's first Computer Crime Investigations Unit.

Mr. Shipley is a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Forensics Computer Examiner. He currently serves as the International 1st Vice President of the High Technology Crime Investigation Association
(HTCIA).
